JCI Senate Malaysia’s Brief History

The 1981 JCIM IPP/Senate Chairman, JCI Senator Alex K.K.Ting, in his opening remarks to a group of JCI Senators said:

” We have been trying to form a Senate Association for a number of years. This time we hope to really get things going and I think it is high time we should come into the sense of the Jaycees movement in Malaysia to play an active role”.

Those opening remarks at an inaugural meeting on 27th September 1981 held in Kuala Lumpur proved the way for the formation of Jaycees Malaysia Senate. A Protem Committee under the leadership of JCI Senator James H. K. Lim played an important role in formulating the draft Jaycees Malaysia Senate Constitution which was adopted on 18th September 1982 at Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.

The proposed Constitution of Jaycees Malaysia Senate while in the hands of the Registrar of Societies of Malaysia has undergone some minor changes in line with the requirements of the authorities concerned. On 11th September 1985, Jaycees Malaysia Senate had been officially recognized by the Registrar of Societies of Malaysia as a duly registered and recognized body.
